My sister Mary, also known as ‘The Other Nissenson,’ reminded me it was actually our mother who studied guitar with Mike Bloomfield. Mary studied banjo with Pete Lenz, who was not quite as famous, but an extremely nice person.
Name I totally forgot to drop
StandardThe late Mike Bloomfield (Paul Butterfield Band) taught my sister guitar. This was several years before he became famous and only slightly after she learned to walk.
The Other Nissenson
StandardNepotism time! My sister, Mary, who has had a seriously fascinating life (how many lawyers have a Peabody and filled in for Jane Pauley on the Today Show?)* has a new blog and, unlike mine, is replete with wisdom. But don’t take my word for it** read it.

*The correct answer would be ‘none.’
**Nobody else does.
Beep, beep, boop, boop
StandardWhy do I always get that silly message when I inform my blog I want to write a post? Is it supposed to inspire me? Perhaps if I were writing about traffic jams or cartoon Martians.
What I actually wanted to write about was yesterday’s clever* post. I am informed it was too esoteric for anyone other than a cartographer.
*I am being ironic, so no mean comments.
Latvia
StandardFinland was joined by a visitor from Latvia yesterday. I’ll bet they were both over at their friend Estonia’s house, and he said, “Hey, let’s play a joke on Carol Nissenson.”
Finland, seriously?
StandardPerhaps yesterday’s blog visitor heard I like Sibelius.*
*Which I do
I love Costa Rica*
StandardAnd I am happy some random Costa Rican visited my blog, even if they were only looking for my cousin the nephrologist.
*In theory, at least. I’ve never been there.
My transmission ate my latte budget
StandardI will have to find a station that plays New Age music as produced by Motown to replicate the environment. Because, dang, I wrote well there.*
*If we’re talking quantity, at least.
Brand New Name Drop!
StandardBrian Ross, well-known investigative journalist, and I worked on the same paper…in high school…I’m old. He’s very nice, btw.
Stages of novel writing
Standard1. First draft.
2. Second draft
3. Second guess
